The basics
What is a pack-out after a water, fire, or mold loss?
A pack-out is the organized removal of a home's contents from the rooms a loss affected, so the structural work, drying, soot and odor cleaning, mold remediation, or rebuild, can happen without the contents in the way or at further risk. It is a separate workflow from the structural repair, running on its own inventory and its own schedule.
Not every loss needs a full pack-out. A single wet room with a few affected items might only need those items moved and cleaned in place. A loss that reaches multiple rooms, that involves mold or heavy soot, or that requires the home to be closed for part of a rebuild usually needs a real pack-out: boxing, sealing, logging, and moving contents somewhere they can be cleaned, stored, or assessed away from the work area.
